General Precautions to be taken for Financial Transactions
- Be careful of suspicious pop-ups that appear while browsing websites or making online payments.
- Always check for a secure payment gateway. The website URL should start with https:// and show a lock symbol.
- Keep your PIN, password, ATM card number, debit card number, credit card number and CVV private.
- Avoid saving card details on websites, public computers, shared devices or cyber cafés.
- Turn on two-factor authentication wherever this facility is available.
- Never open emails from unknown sources containing suspicious attachments or phishing links.
- Do not share copies of cheque book, passbook, KYC documents or personal documents with strangers.
- Do not click unknown links received through SMS, WhatsApp or email. Delete suspicious messages immediately.
- Always verify website details before entering financial credentials such as login ID, password or card details.
- Never download mobile apps or software from unverified or unknown sources.
- While using ATM, verify that no extra device is attached near the card slot or keypad.
- Do not enter your ATM PIN in the presence of another person and do not share your card with anyone.
- Never share OTP, UPI PIN, ATM PIN, password or personal details with anyone.
- Regularly check SMS and email alerts to ensure that no transaction or OTP is generated without your knowledge.
Bank or society never asks for OTP, PIN, Password or CVV.
